The England-born coach was only in charge for nine matches, and picked up nine points, in what was his second stint with Lidoda Duvha

Struggling Premier Soccer League side Black Leopards have axed head coach Dylan Kerr. The Limpopo club confirmed the news on their social media channels late on Sunday evening.

"Black Leopards FC and their head coach Dylan Kerr have reached an agreement to part ways amicably. Assistant coaches Morgan Shivambu and Lehlohonolo Seema together with goalkeeper coach Sam Banda will be responsible for the team in the meantime," read a statement from the club.Kerr's dismissal comes on the back of two recent defeats - 0-2 against Cape Town City in midweek and a 0-3 loss to Chippa United on Saturday.

Those results have left Lidoda Duvha on nine points, level with rock-bottom Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and above their provincial neighbours only on goal difference.

The two defeats last week followed Leopards' shock 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates the previous week which had suggested Kerr had managed to galvanise his men to turn the corner after a poor run of form.

The England-born Kerr, a former defender at Leeds United as well as numerous other British clubs, had only arrived at Leopards, for what was his second spell, in November last year. He took over from Belgian coach Patrick Aussems.

Prior to that he was employed by another PSL club in the Limpopo Province, Baroka FC. His first stint with Leopards was between November 2018 and June 2019 and lasted for just 21 games.

The 54-year-old Kerr’s first job in South Africa came in 2009 when he worked as an assistant coach at Mpumalanga Black Aces.

He’s also been employed previously by two of east Africa’s biggest sides – Kenyan giants Gor Mahia and Tanzania's Simba SC.

Kerr joins the likes of Ayanda Dlamimi (AmaZulu), Dan Malesela (TS Galaxy), Eric Tinkler (Maritzburg United) and Seema (Chippa United) as PSL coaching casulaties this season.

Leopards caretaker coaches Shivambu and Seema will have little time to prepare for their next game – a home clash with defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
